L320 Sunroof ECU

Though the motor drives my sunroof back and forth, it won't do so under the control of the "ECU" attached to the motor. LR want £400 for a new one (motor/ECU combo).

It is:

A Hall-effect sensor...
A 12V relay...
An integrated circuit...

What a rip-off! I'm happy without a sunroof - for £400, I'll employ a punka wallah on the rare occasions I feel like it.

Iv'e not used one myself, but there are companies who will repair ECU's for a fraction of the price of a new one. My lad had a repair on the ECU on his Civic type R after which it was fine, albeit his is a rather unsophisticated ek9.

If you ebay search L320 sunroof motor you’re looking at £200 to £300! If you search FIAT, Renault etc. £30 to £40!!!

You’d maybe need to check part numbers or may swop the eprom?

A cunning-plan ruined by reality!

If the ECU was good but the motor kapput this would have been a good route to take. Cheers Thumbs Up

Could a competent person with the knowledge to download from the chip reprogramme the replacement with the software from the original? The guy on the Disco 3 forum does this with the FFRR L322 clocks into a L320. If it’s £300 versus £30 + a reprogramme it would still be worth it. Maybe even worth just have a spare for the mechanicals. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

what I tend to do with these things, if your cleaver. and I suspect you are!
is disconenct the relay drive coils from the circuit and connect to switch outputs, therefore having a very basic drive to open close the roof.

It will work 24 hours a day, and not good if you have kids as safety bypassed

I do it all within that circuit, so its plug n play. So a replacement can be fitted at a later date if you or new owner find a replacement cheap.

I did this with a renault window motor.

^^^good idea.

I did wonder about uploading the firmware to a unit from something cheaper, but suspect it will need some special software to upload it.

...can anyone suggest where I might get a wiring diagram / pin-out? I don't have the rights on Topix and Google has let me down.

If not, multimeter, here I come!
