thumping sound

Good afternoon!

I have this issue..

1) When I drive, I hear a thumping sound. That comes from the rear axle, especially when I release the gas.
What can that be? Differential?

Can you easily get there to repair?

(sorry, didnt got in the right category.. )

Assuming it's not the wife locked in the boot Laughing , a rear knocking could be one of a number of suspension bushes / anti roll bar bushes or the rear prop shaft centre bearing. It might be something else too. When does it make the noise? Under acceleration? Under braking? When just driving along normally? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Check your fuel tank. I used to get a thump (as distinct from a more precise knock), when pulling away and it turned out to be fuel slopping around in the tank. There was a fix that the dealer did which was a matting that stopped fuel moving so much.

Just a thought but maybe you can rule it out if not.
There are some movable weight ballasts under each side of the rear of the car I believe.
Could it be these moving when you brake/release the gas? I seem to remember some older posts about this. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?
