Soon to be an owner.

I am collecting my new to me;
2012 Range Rover Sport Autobiography in early October,

I have always thought they were stunning from that first moment I
saw the early one in orange, I am a little older now and am lucky to
be able to get the one I really want..

I have a nearly 500 mile test drive home so I should know if there are any issues.

But can anyone give some advise on what I should check before I hand over my
hard earned money and drive her home?

Thank you in advance..

Have a good look at the wheels for cracks etc., if they are 22" style Seven they are copies as L/R never fitted 22" rims to the L320.

Cheers

Good spot, I know that they are brand new wheels and tyres, but I will ask them where they come from and if they are OEM, but for the newer model, or replica ones,
Thanks...

check the suspension very closely. take it for a good run, then get under it and check for fluid leaks. 2012 Range Rover Sport Autobiography 3.0 SDV6

no problem

dealers often spray break cleaner on the suspension to clean off the oil leak. so it's really important to take it for a good ride before checking. any sign of a leak, run a mile or negotiate the price accordingly. 2012 Range Rover Sport Autobiography 3.0 SDV6

Test the high /low transfer box change over works smoothly and quietly - start the engine, select N, open driver’s window, press Hi/lo button and the change should occur......... or not if the car has not been used properly. Check the indication lights illuminate on the dash and in the 4x4 info screen then shift it back to high ratio. It isn’t a huge issue to fix, it just shows the previous owners never maintained the car according to the manual, it is a negotiating point if it doesn’t shift in and out smoothly and quietly, you are buying a hugely capable off road vehicle, even if you don’t intend to go further offroad than the golf club car park all the off road bits should still work properly.
Col’s point about 22” wheels is especially important as the steering rack was not designed originally to take bigger wheels than 19” and then a heavy duty rack was made standard in about 2007 and all RRS’s could then take up to 20” wheels but nothing bigger. Also Insurance can be an issue with non OEM wheels bigger than the car is designed to have.... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Check the climate control cools as well as heats - there is no need to switch it off, just leave it in auto but there are a lot of misguided people out there who think running it all year round consumes extra fuel, it doesn’t these days now systems are more efficient. You do more damage to electronics switching it off because the dehumidifier doesn’t run when the climate is switched off, it works regardless of whether you have a warmer or a colder temperature set. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
