I think it would of made a little more sense if he said the bearing had collapsed and the drive shaft sheared.

Ask for the broken bits to be put in the boot in a bag. I've always done that just in case any future repercussions....most decent and honest places will do this Visitor from fullfatrr.com

A couple of photos on here might help shed light on it - at the very least we can go "ooh" and "aargh" in sympathy... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
