L494 - Time for new tyres - any advice welcome!

Hi all - My L494 has done 40,000 on a set of Continental CrossContact LX Sport - size is 275/40/22 Y108 XL and i *believe* these are the Continental 'silent' tyres with the foam layer inside to reduce cabin noise. Anyway, it's time for new tyres all round. The easy option would be to get the same again, but I'm also tempted by Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx as I have Dunlop SportMaxx on another car and think they're great. But it's hard to find any review of these on a RRS, particularly also whether they would be noticeably louder in the cabin than the Continentals. Any experience at all please? Or indeed any other tyres that you would say are worth looking at? Many thanks in advance!!

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde are a good tyre, one of OEM options I believe, although MY19 cars are all fitted with Continentals.

It also depends what sort of driving you do and the number of miles? I personally put winter tyres on mine so would actually opt for a summer tyre and change to winters. If you do any off roading (even mild grassy fields) it's more sensible to stick with all seasons.

Has anyone tried the Avon ZX7? They seem to be highly rated in wet braking performance and low rolling resistance, if the tyre label is anything to go by. Grade A and B respectively. 71db too.

I’ve always gone for Conti or Pirelli’s but Avon might be worth a look, or certainly the Dunlop’s at B, B and 69db.

Stay with Conti's . They tend to wear the most consistently on a 22" . Have seen many a Dunlop and Pirelli suffer extreme inner edge tyre wear when on a 22" application. Yes they may be quieter but its all about what your wanting from your tyres on a personal front 2012 Evoque
2014 Sport Autobiography
2015 SVR for the fun stuff
2016 Evoque SI4 Dynamic Lux for the daily drive
2016 Defender 90
2018 SVR

I’d like to, but Conti’s are C rated for both rolling resistance and wet braking. Which in real terms is an additional 3m of wet braking distance from a b-rated tyre.

Don't take the EU tyre label as being the be-all and end-all of the tyre's performance. Just because one is a B and the other is a C doesn't mean the B will be better on your vehicle in real world conditions.

Look at this tyre test review: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-...-car-tyres

Quote:
While the Avon has the top A wet grip rating, it finished last behind tyres with lower grades. Label ratings are established in optimum conditions and obviously the Texas heat didn’t suit the ZV7. It needed just under seven metres more to stop in the wet than the pace-setting Pirelli; when that tyre had come to a halt, this was still doing 25mph-plus.
 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Very happy with the Pirelli Scorpions on my MY16....quiet at cruising speeds but lets see how they wear...new on collection in May. Also find R-Tec in St Albans the cheapest for tyres - price match Blackcircles.
