I have to say I've been disappointed with the SDV6. Only giving 25mpg in mixed driving. My old TDV8 used to give 22mpg in the same driving. I'm sure AT tyres don't help but they were also on the TDV8 so the difference is a real 3mpg! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Just to add to the debate, I've had my TDV8 for 2 years 3 months. I religiously keep a record of fuel used mileage etc. not because I am worried about the cost ( as someone said if your are worried then don't buy a RRS) but just out of interest. It could also help signal any potential faults developing.

I made it a point to NEVER EVER look at the MPG on my previous 4.2 SC after the initial shock and now continue in the same fashion with the 5.0 SC.

To clarify, you’re looking at an older tech engine without cylinder shutdown etc, 4.2 litre V8 engine in a car with a complex 4x4 system that weighs close to 3 tonnes, surely you knew it would be horrific on petrol?, I was looking at these too, had Range Rovers before but in the end decided to go for a Cayenne Turbo, which is unsurprisingly horrific on petrol, am averaging 13.5 MPG on my commute, I have had it up to 20 on a motorway run though, getting lead footed in it sees it drop to sub 10!.

I can’t remember when I had a 4.2 what it use to do fuel wise , I seem to remember 15 mpg for some reason, that was back in 2005. 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR |

I really want a supercharged sport, but I couldn't live with fuel consumption in the low teens. I didn't buy a sport for economy, but 13mpg is just too low! |

I worked out my average fuel spend since buying mine (last sept) and it`s only around £30 a month more than my Focus ST |

So is that £30 a month worth paying for looking down and smug on others |

I had a 2006 4.4 which returned around 17 to the gallon , I now have a 2010 5.0 s/c which is returning around 15 to the gallon which I’m happy with as the performance is outstanding for such a heavy car

Well after saying I would never look at my MPG in the 5.0, I finished a 140 mile drive to Cumbria and got an average of 22mpg which dropped to 21.5 as I drove over Warcop range. Average speed was 54mph with erm about 70mph top speed...I was pleasantly surprised but I’m under no illusion it will be a lot lot less on shorter drives. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
