There I was happily chugging through the roads of Kent when the engine totally died and the EPB warning light started flashing red! No power to anything, the steering went incredibly heavy (as the engine wasn't running) but I managed to get it off the road into a side road. WTF? Just sat staring at the blank screens wondering what to do now.

A bit more info. As can be heard from the dash cam videos, there is a slight judder at the moment that the power cut. You can see from the film that my voltage went from 13.7v to 12.6v at the same instant. It appears I may have hit a bump/pot hole but its not an easy one to see and I've hit far worse before and since with no ill effects. So is it a loose wire or earth somewhere? Or is the judder the result of the issue I have.

Managed to get a slot this afternoon with my indie who put the code reader on it. Engine - no faults; transmission - no faults; something about a comms problem spotted (he said that the instrument cluster sometimes plays up) but he says that when that occurs it should go into limp mode not stop altogether. He's cleared the codes. The car has been well behaved since the incident even though I have purposely driven over pot holes to try and make it happen again.

Cheers Scrumpy. I did suggest a loose wire but it fell on deaf ears.
