Thanks for the detailed rundown of how your scenario panned out. It does take a hell of a lot of time and effort to get into what you think it could be to actually where the problem stems from.

Although nearly everything you have listed is happening with mine, the only small think I noticed slightly different was that sometimes when you were testing the fault, you had to wait a bit for the fault to occur. With mine it can happen as quick as me turning the key for the first and the doors lock etc; etc; this maybe a temperature thing like you say Exclamation

Apart from that it seems like it may have to be a change of instrument cluster for me also. RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi

Just a thought, mine also did this faulting with the key turn, when i was in June and warmer, depends on dash temp, sunlight, shadows, a few variables

Is it worth taking out the cluster, I'm now faster than the LR F1 team on this task Cool , put it in the freezer for a while to ensure its cold then reinstall and see how long you extend the faulting on key operation. If it changes it, to me then the cluster looks suspect.

Just thinking

One last thing, if you get to replacing the cluster then search on the old LR number, rather than the new number LR has recently given to all these parts. This number is usually on a sticker on the cluster, mine was YAC502190

The parts are identical but the prices vary wildly depending on using the old or new numbers, its a bit of a con by LR/Dealers/Parts suppliers. I ended up getting the same cluster for nearly £300 cheaper then the cheapest "new" numbered part

Worth a few mins googling if your paying

The version number is a good point, I asked exactly that question in another post...

"I am looking to swap out my 2007 Range Rover Sport L320 Diesel MPH Speedo Instrument Speedometer YAC502190

There is a used one for sale but has the HW Version number: YAC500445

Will this fit, or do I have to buy one with the exact same HW Version number
?"

So I could fit an earlier version, which like you say are listing a bit cheaper. I would be re-flashing it with my current instrument cluster CCF anyway I think. Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi

Yes I'm talking about a new one and of the exact same part just a different "newer" LR.... number, that s why i think its a bit of a conjob on parts.

I didn't want any other spec from earlier years to avoid any issues. Yep I paid from memory circa 360 + VAT (UK)

Specialist reprogrammed mine, but Phil at GAP quoted the IID will reflash/transfer the cars CCF into new or used cluster. Its on the menus but never needed to try it

Re: Dash Board Faults

Fish wrote:
Hi, I had a nightmare with my dash. The first indicator something was wrong was that the HDC and special programs not available used to come up and reset when I switched off the ignition and the car went into sleep mode. This escalated to the door locks opening and closing and also the hazards would come on with no internal indication that they were on. The fault then started putting the car into limp mode with only slow speed available and the engine temp gauge would go full scale, plus all of the previous faults too Big Cry
In the end I changed out the dash for a new one for 800 plus fitting and I have never looked back. I had done some research into this and there have been issues with the 2007 instrument clusters (I have an 07 Banging Head )

Hi Looks Dash needs repair.
We do RR Dash repair with these common issues at very reasonable prices.
PM me please.

That’s a brilliant and perfectly concise guide on how to do a full fault find, top marks indeed, helped me out no end.
I’ve got a 2008 RR (not sport, sorry) TDV8 Vogue HSE just about run-in at 84000 mls and nigh-on mint, bought as a non starter, it’s now had new (genuine) lift pump, fuel level senders, fuel filter housing, fuel cooler, filter obviously, high pressure line from HP pump to common rails.
New Bosch S5 110amp battery (kept on GYS bench power supply)
New OEM cam sensor, crank sensor, x1 MAF sensor, re-con (Merlin Diesel) HP fuel pump,
ALL 8 (THAT WAS FUN) Injectors removed, tested x3 replaced with re-man units (AGNG Diesel),
AND IT STILL WONT START!!1 Big Cry Big Cry
Noticed after a few times once battery removed and re-connected I’d loose virtually all vehicle systems, ign lock, dashboard, stereo, Webasto, remote locking works but no indicators flash, sidelights ok but if I flash main beam the HID headlights come on and stay on until cycle back to auto then off?
But strangely HVAC seemed to work, Windows, roof, boot and as mentioned remote locking, also the rear brake lights including high level all come on and stay on regardless.
The first time this happened I went on a rampage and stripped out most of the lower dash to get to the main MIDI fuses to check, everything was fine, all of a sudden after two hours on a wild goose chase, whole car lit up like a Christmas tree and again, cranked but wont start Censored
Did it again after getting injectors out and re-fitting, no dash, aside from the handbrake light and alarm led, left it overnight, came back, remote unlock, indicators flashed so I new it would work and it did for a minute or two and then off but it was very warm in the workshop,
Then after a bit of Googling I found this extremely helpful post, so, managed to grab a SH dash for testing, plugged it in whilst the other was dead and instantly the dash came on but no crank, run JLR SDD and I think it’s married the dash, unfortunately it’s now running at 160,000mls! But it does crank, but still wont start!!!
Can anyone for certain tell me if the engine cranks then all the security system is ok and it’s free to run or is there still an issue as the dash indeed hasn’t been married, by the way SDD shows no faults at all and all there is is the recommended list for campaign work when I put in the symptoms
The other question is can the mileage be corrected down at all, I thought it said in the service manual the LCM held mileage and service info and updated instrument cluster, or somewhere that has actually worked out what fails on the instrument panel and can repair them.
