I have never done it, but I have read that it can be done through the wheel arch, but not easy. |

Is it actually the turbo that has failed? The reason I ask is that a sticking variable vane actuator is a common problem resulting in reduced performance. There is an updated part to rectify this and i understand it can be done with the body on. A lot of owners have managed to free it off using a bit of wire and grease. Worth looking into initially. |

The experts say it can be done easily in 10 hours lifting body.

£3.7k for an sdv6 though that is both turbos and a body off job. Indy price. Should be less for 1 turbo even at main dealer prices as the turbos alone are around £1200 each for Garrats. |

Unfortunately I can't give the codes as the garage hasn't given them to me. After they carried out the diagnostic (for which they didn't give me a bill - which leads me to feel they didn't find a problem and they don't want to take any responsibility). All they did say was they thought it was the turbo causing the problem of the ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT message showing on the dash - they sent me on my way saying come back if the warning comes up again. It's a 2006 Sport and hasn't done 100,000 miles. The guy who usually looks after servicing for me gave me a |

My turbo failed last year with only 15k on my Disco, which is the same vehicle as the Sport. Luckily it's still under warranty otherwise it would have cost me 6k and they did lift the body the change the turbo.... 2010 RR 5.0 Autobiography

you don't want to be changing the turbo, if it "might be the turbo".

Thanks for yours!! I've had a look at the video - it's something I would certainly like to have-a-go-at. Would you say the car needs to be up on a lift, or possibly could be done by crawling under the car?!? Andrew Kennedy |

Iv'e never had the need to do it myself, thankfully. If access is via the wheel arch, I imagine jack that corner up, axle stand under the chassis rail, wheel off and get stuck in. I would think that it would be a lot easier if you have access to a lift though. |
