After reading a scare story in the press about germs accumulating in car air conditioning filters .... and recommending the cleaning of the filter regularly I wonder what the members here think about it.

According to maintenance schedule should be replaced every service "A" or "B".

The OP is really referring to the problem of microbial growth that can occur throughout the car's ventilation system. Apart from smelling unpleasant, it is believed some microbes have the potential to cause infection or allergic reactions.
