Not sure if this helps but, on mine if you turn off the engine (whilst at normal height) then about a minute or so later the car settles by about half an inch. I believe I was told that this is to remove a bit of the pressure in the suspension system. So conversely when you start up again, the car will regain that half an inch loss.

The drop after the ignition is turned off is there to make sure the system has to work at the start of the next trip. That way, you find out it doesn't work before you are fifty miles into the Gobi desert (or Sainsbury's carpark). |
