It's not an RRS so why do we care? |

Yeah you have a point Havank. I remember getting some figures on a £34k base 535d back in 2005 when i ended up buying my RR Sport, basically the residual on the 535 was only £14k through capital bank after 4 years, and on the RRS it was coming out to £20ish, and the 535d looked more expensive on the monthlies etc. With the right kit, i.e. Sport, Visibility and Media pack, the 5 series will hold its value a lot better then an Se one, but you do have a point, 335d saloon may possible be a better bet. I used to have a 330d sport when i was at uni, was £27k new, kept it for 2.5 years and took the mileage from 4k to 32k and sold it as pex back to Bmw for £21k. That was fantastic deal, but i was buying a convertible in the middle of winter, so have a feeling they may have over subsidised the pex.. However, with all the Bmw's, they release the Se first, and as soon as the sport models come out, everyone wants them instead and the Se's drop in value... i.e. check the 535d prices.. Sport for around £34k, SE's late 20's. For the extra spec you get on the sport, and they look better, i would always get out of an Se when the Sports arrive, and seeing as though they aren't very far between each other in launch on the coupes, think its Sept 25-6th for the SE coupe's and Janish for the sports.. may be a very very short hop between. |

People pay up to 52k for a fully loaded M3 and the 335 isn't far short of that in terms of package so in terms of where it fits in the range I don't think 40k is unreasonable (even though it's undoubtedly a lot of money).

Is it me or does it value all the options wrongly?

I see... odd way to do it. Financing the options as well as the base car? |

yeah it is an odd breakdown.. normally you just take the figure OTR price of the car and just work out the payments on that whole amount (including the options). .. is simply a useless breakdown, but some people may find it interesting to note that the sat nav is costing them X a month in reality..

Hmm... £34 a month for Satnav. I don't pay that for Sky+ |

It is useful to have this option - my work had a policy of purchasing company cars on behalf of their staff with certain constraints.

I bet you there'll be spare capacity in the channel at launch - if a couple of cancelled orders or speculative dealer purchases can't be found I'll be very surprised. It does look good... I'm going to my dealers launch BBQ next weekend and will be doing my very own set of grilling.... (of the sales monkey, that is). |
