EPB fault Code C1A46-64

Well, got the dreaded screech on Sunday together with the red flashing brake and amber warning dash symbols. Turned off, 10 secs, back on no symbols/warnings, and the EPB was off.
Stripped, cleaned and adjusted, and codes read; C1A46-64, and historic U3000-16. The EPB is not jammed and does release, just screeches and warnings on dash.
I understand it's time for a new module, unless anyone has any other (hopefully cheaper) ideas.
Thanks.

There doesn't seem to be a fault code C1A46-64 perhaps you mis-typed?

C1A4662
Parking brake
actuator module
plausibility check

Possible Causes
Parking brake cables
fouled, trapped or
damaged
 Parking brake shoes,
linings worn
 Parking brake shoes
incorrectly adjusted
following replacement
 Parking brake actuator
module circuit(s): short
circuit to ground, short
circuit to power, high
resistance
 Parking brake actuator
module fault

Action
Check the parking brake cables for fouling,
trapping or damage. Check the parking brake
shoes for correct adjustment,
Parking Brake Shoe and Lining Adjustment
(70.40.11) Inspect the parking brake shoes for
excessive wear.
Brake Disc (70.12.33)
Parking Brake Shoes (70.40.09) Check the
parking brake actuator module circuits. Refer to
the electrical guides. Refer to the warranty policy
and procedures manual if a module is suspect.

Must be worth taking the module off and doing the 'Disco-Mikey unjam cables procedure' before writing off the module? There is a walk through that he did somewhere on the site

U3000-16 relates to the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS):
Control Module -
Circuit voltage below
threshold

Possible causes:
The power supply to
the Module has been
below 9 Volts for more
than 1000 milliseconds

Action
Suspect Battery or Charging fault. Check the battery condition and
state of charge. Check the vehicle charging system. Refer to the
relevant workshop manual section. Clear the DTC, cycle ignition
state to off then on, if DTC returns refer to the electrical circuit
diagrams and check power and ground circuit to the Adaptive
Front Lighting System (AFS) Control Module 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

It gets worse!

Properly confused now. I have a print out which says "DTC viewer" and those are the codes. Mine is the mk1 facelift but I shouldn't have thought it would make any difference.
To make matters worse, it has now jammed on, and I can't work out where the emergency release is. The only thing I can find is for the earlier cars.
Really Censored off now!

OK, after a deep breath, this may help;
C1A46-64 PBM Actuator plausibility check, mismatch between motor drive current and resultant force.
U3000-16 PBM control module.
Job one will be locate the emergency release and get the Censored brake off, job 2 get it to the garage, job 3 wait for a module to be available (apparently on back order, great)
The only positive is that I have access to SWMBO's corsa dog van, I can put up with the smell of wet dogs Thumbs Up
I have seen the write up by DM thanks, but when the codes were read, it wasn't jammed and did release, sadly not the case now but I don't think a re-latch would do it.

Release is under the EPB switch,,, a bit difficult to see as it's only a metal cable with a loop in the end. I hope you have more luck than I did as they very rarely work,,,, so I was informed by my indie 2010 RRS, TDV8

gogsy, how do you get to the wire loop? I can't see how to remove the switch.

OAC, its under the centre cup holders apparently according to my handbook... (now i know I'm getting old)

Take out the rubber holders and there is a 50p sized round cover which you can either use the blade of the key or a flat bladed screw driver to prise open....

Mine is under the EPB switch,, didn't have to remove the cup holders. Prise off the gaiter round the gearstick and there are 2 screws that hold in the EPB switch. Take it out and with the aid of a flashlight you should be able to spot the loop on the cable end. Use the handle off your jack to hook the cable and give it a good tug,, should move a few inches. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Quick update;
Tried the round cover under the cupholders; easy to get out, but the wire pull isn't visible.
Took off the gear knob, managed to pry the silver coloured trim off, removed the plastic wedge to access the 2 screws that secure the EPB switch but even with the screws out I could not remove the switch. Good thing is the wire pull is visible, just inaccessible.
Resorted to the youtube clip posted by powerful uk and the sides of the trim came off as described, but the very front of the trim is solid and doesn't slide/tilt, so I cant get if off to get to the wire pull. I don't want to force it as I imagine they cost an arm and a leg to replace.

The switch should come out,,, might just want a little persuasion. There's not much room to get hold of the cable which is why you need something strong with a hook on the end. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Update

EPB module has now been replaced by Ian at Fenland 4X4 and everything now hunky-dory. I am just waiting for RAC warranty to reimburse me the cost, which should be OK as they have authorised the payment.
I still have the old EPB module and should pull it apart to see if any of the cogs have stripped. There is a youtube vid about replacing a stripped cog, but of course that may, or may not, be the cause. I say "should" but I probably won't get round to doing it and it will still be in my shed next year.
