As said, in the L494 RRS, HSE is effectively the bottom rung. There was briefly a SE but it didn't last. HSE is a reasonable spec but missed out on the stuff that makes the RRS perform properly both on and off road.

Options to look out for - panoramic roof, either fixed or opening makes a big difference to the interior ambience especially if the interior is all black. Other desirable options - if the car is not to be garaged then the heated steering wheel, park heating / cooling, spare wheel and possibly the hugely expensive at build optional Meridian 1700w sound system ( but don’t pay silly money extra to get it) in 2016MY the OEM Audio isn’t great - adequate but not great so if you find one with the upgrade to the 825w system it is worth having as standard then was a 380w system. Sidesteps are essential for some, but i’m Not a fan of them as I take my RRS offroad and they have been known to catch and damage the car. The Adaptive BiXenon Headlights are worth looking for too as they were not standard. Options to be wary off - the autonomous braking seems to suffer with camera issues and the gesture tailgate option seems never to detect most peoples feet....... also don’t pay over regular RRS prices for any Kahn/Overfinch etc etc personalized versions, the interiors can be downright awful on some, unless you really like acres of Bentley quilt leather.... Only one gearbox has ever been available - they all, come with a ZF torque converter 8 Speed auto, no manual, option at all. And no double clutch. You also get paddle shifters but if the car has had the gearbox ecu upgrade carried out the improvement in performance was quite marked and renders the paddle shift redundant as the kick down was hugely improved after the upgrade. The 3.0ltr SDv6 produces 700nm of torque in the 306hp version which is pretty useful. As well as the SDv6 3.0ltr HSE/ HSE Dynamic if you really really hunt around you might find an early V6 Petrol Supercharged but they are almost as rare as hens teeth. In 2017 MY there is also an Sd4 2.olitre diesel that you might be interested in but again they were not popular so might prove difficult to find although dealerships put a few on a s demo cars they generally weren’t a hit with customers so you might find a cheap newer SD4 in listings. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

You may find what you are looking for amongst this lot, although it relates to mainly U.S. spec cars.

Thanks Col, most of the differences in the pdf files are between the HSE and petrol variants.

Yeah looks like the HSE Dynamic not available in the U.S. in 2016, although it does list it in the 2017 brochure so maybe not introduced in U.S until 2017.

Took the RR out today for a good few hours between motorways and normal roads. Excellent car, very comfy and my wife commented on how safe it felt. Handles well and is fun to drive considering it’s size and weight - almost shrink around you.

The RRS has fully adjustable suspension with front caster, camber and toe, and rear camber and toe being adjustable. This means you can get the alignment just-so but it also seems to mean that the thing needs alignment checks done quite regularly. Alignment is not helped by the arm and anti-roll bar bushes being consumable items. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

If you mean the steering wheel off centre, I had same issue and it annoyed me, had 4 wheel alignment done, steering sensor calibrated etc. etc. car drove straight as a die, even with hands off the wheel and under braking. Ended up removing steering wheel and moving it one spline on the shaft been spot on ever since with no problems and that was 4 years ago. Cheers Col |

Could any specialist align the RR or does it have to be LR? Roads where I live are bad hence the reason I was considering a comfy 4x4 but I don’t want to have to get Alignment done a regular basis |

Any wheel alignment company with a 4 wheel alignment tool can do it but make sure they actually know what they are doing |
