I got one of these Co-Pilot CPDVR3 Full HD 1080p LCD Rear-View Mirror Car Dual Camera Dash Cam which fully covers the rear view mirror and has nice 3" screen within mirror which is switchable between forward camera, rear view camera or both.

very easy. it's plugged in to the cigar lighter socket in the centre console (switches itself on and off when I unlock or lock the doors) and I've run the cable all the way around the glove box, and up the A pillar and across to the rear view mirror area. the cable just tucks in nicely without have to use any fixings. Thanks Scrumpy. Yes it does help - interesting option that one - saves obscuring some of the windscreen... 2008 RRS HSE Stornoway Grey |

Richy - if you've not yet handed over the dosh, you may want to have a browse through this ...

Thanks for this. No dosh handed over yet, so still considering the options. Costco are doing the Cobra IP200 for £40:

I am always dubious about dabbling with electrics especially on the RRS where is can be so temperamental. However it was relatively straightforward to hard wire. In the link I sent you I supplied some pictures of my use of the fuse box behind the glove compartment which I think I got from someone else on the forum. As long as you have purchased the right stuff (e.g. piggy back fuse) and take it steady, you should be fine.

Thanks Eaters. I've had a look through the link you sent and the pictures of the fuse box etc...

This is mine https://www.carcamcentral.com/review/viofo-a119-review I like this one cos of the wedge shape, very sleek, stealthy look. As far as fitting, auto electrician...£30 Not worth the hassle doing it yourself. Steve. |

Yes that’s it. But the wire can actually be hidden behind headlining and A pillar covers. I think I had a quick search on Youtube for videos on how to remove trim, and even purchased a set of trim tools (not expensive and subsequently often useful for other jobs). Trim fixings were a hidden world to me until this. Still no expert but I’m getting better. And once you decided that the worst that can happen is you break a clip and need to get a replacement, then you get more confident to have a go. And of course you’ve got the experts on the forum to support you if required. Robin 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Gone: Jaguar S-Type V8 4.2 Sport MGZTT 190 2.5 |
