Just ask the question. He has to tell the truth when directly asked but he doesn't have to volunteer information. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If it has a replacement engine, rather than a rebuilt engine, then the engine number will not match the original build sheet etc. 07MY RRS TDV6

Be very careful when they say reconditioned,,I know a lot of company’s that state they have been recond & all they have done is removed from a car that’s been a right off & cleaned engine up,,years ago their was company’s steam cleaning gearboxes & painting them then selling as reconditioned.I would be very wary when buying a engine or gearbox from someone I didn’t know or had a good reputation.

And I’m fairly sure you can’t buy the shells from Land Rover either so that’s why it’s either a Brand New engine or a reconditioned engine from Land Rover direct or a used engine from a breakers?

That’s my understanding of the situation, can anyone clarify this Question 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I have seen supposedly new Cranks on fleabay, allegedly genuine L/R, I think it may have been someone from Germany advertising them but really wouldn't know the true origins. Not that the crank is much use if you can't get rod's and shells.

Cheers
