I really hope it isn’t the crankshaft , for most of our sakes . |

I also hope this isn’t too serious. Mine is just under 29 months old with 18600 miles so very similar to the OP’s. It does worry me a little bit as we are off on a long trip soon, in the middle of winter with young kids.

If your crankshaft has snapped you won't be limping, you'll be stopped. Let's hope that means it's something less serious. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

But if it had spun a big end or main bearing, it would still run, albeit, sounding like a bag of spanners |

Positive? Really? The only positive thing that happened here is it failed less than 3 years old. But 8ts something that should never have happened in the first place |

Are all the SDV6's prone to this all years ? Is there a certain age more are common or is it just luck of the draw !!!

Mine was exactly one year old, to the day I picked it up, and done about 18000 when the engine gave way completely! Crank shaft bearing went which totalled the bottom end! I Changed mine at two for a SVR, and have no regrets😁😁😁 |
