Rear passenger light problem !!

Hi, My 2008 RRS rear interior passenger lights in the roof are driving me mad ! When ignition is on they turn on so I have to keep them turned off . This was like it when I purchased it .Any reason for this ? Censored

Poor design.

They aren't wired to come on with the door open!!!

You can modify them to with a wire to the rear and diode

I thought so too Robbo. And have read a lot on here about how to change them as Andy suggests.

A few months ago I thought I’d give it a try. Ordered the diodes off eBay and went for it. Not as bad as I’d feared and now I have rear interior lights that come on when I open the door (like the front ones do) and then fade to off when I start the car. The only very minor issue is that if I turn on one rear light they both come on. But that’s no bother at all and far better than the LR design.

Well worth the effort Thumbs Up Robin

you should of used 2 diodes to prevent that. (1 per side)

I only modified the right side (same side as boot light), which was sufficient to illuminate the rear.

Slight thread drift, but is there a way to turn off the rear interior lights (above the rear doors) on an L494 (MY15.5) from the drivers seat? Had to drive with one on the other night for what seemed like an age due to being on a motorway Rolling Eyes

Aha! Thanks Andy. That explains it. But as it happens, I quite like it with both lights coming on. If my rear passengers complain I can always add another diode Thumbs Up Robin

This was the posting I followed.

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic25187....ear+lights

And more info on these two links on page 2:

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic44340.html?highlight=diode

Pretty straightforward in the end although I did keep telling myself that, as long as I didn't short something out, if I got it wrong the worst that I could do was Censored the rear interior lights. Just find the post on your iPad, take them out to the car and work through slowly and methodically Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Robin
