Had my rrs for 6 years and now the heat has decided not to work at all except for one fan in the car...

I've been told it's the heater matrix by a mechanic and can cost ££££s

Anyone help much appreciated!!

Q1 - Is your coolant level OK?

Q2 - Does the temperature gauge on your dashboard rise as normal when you take the car for a short drive?

Coolant level is fine, pipes are also all getting hot as they should, water pump also appears to be fine

The temperature gauge takes a very long time to rise.

Only option I can think of is heater matrix to be replaced, have found a thread of replacing without removing dash

Don’t go jumping in changing a heater matrix until you’ve determined whether the climate control flaps are operating correctly, in particular the air mix flaps. The directional flaps are simple to determine correct operation by feeling for air coming from the vents you expect, when selected. The air mix flap not so easy to determine as it is finely controlled by the CC ECU depending on what signal it is reading from the cabin sensors
If they are stuck in the cold position, then you’ll not get any heat at the vents. This can either be caused by a faulty flap motor (common failure) or by a temperature sensor that has gone out of range, fooling the climate control into thinking the cabin is warmer than it actually is.
Have you checked for any stored fault codes? If you have an IID tool, you can see what each temperature sensor is reading.

If the engine coolant temp is taking forever to rise to normal, this could be due to a stuck thermostat

The thermostat was the first thing I changed and not made any difference once changed.

Only one fan on the hear on the front dash blows like warm air the rest are all cold.

After having a friend who works for Land Rover take a look he has assumed that the heater matrix needs replacing, I’ve purchased one but now finding the time to replace and will see what the outcome is

I think mine needs doing too, rrs 2010

Cold or slightly warm passenger side but hot drivers side.

Heater matrix sorted the issue mate I did it myself.

Is it Petrol or diesel ?

If Diesel, It could just be that your pre heater has died a death the V6 is a very cool running engine hence why the pre heater was fitted in town it may never actually get up to a temperature where its doing anything reasonable heat wise for cabin heating. 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)
