FBH remote question

I have fitted the remote FBH controller with gps. Followed the instructions to the letter and set my 3rd button on the remote to work the lights. Now I can text the car and switch the heater on and off ect, but although the lights come on with the remote, the heater doesn't start. It did start on timer yesterday after using the remote, so I have switched this off, but it don't start at all now. Is there a setting I am overlooking, I want it to start immediately when I press the 3rd button.
Thanks in advance for the help

Mine is not so sophisticated as yours (no text remote option) but in order for mine to work off the 3rd button (with headlights) I need to leave the headlights on for a count of 5 seconds. Then turn headlights off again using 3rd button. Wait about 1 - 2 minutes for the FBH to start up.

Sorry if you are already doing this. Robin

Just a thought

Make sure you have at least 1/4 - 1/2 a tank of fuel otherwise it won’t work.

And one other thought - a trick I learnt the hard way by putting the car into a local indie for a day when the FBH stopped working.
If everything else seems to be fine (the FBH can be tested with an IID BT tool), then disconnect the power lead to the remote control box for 30 seconds and then reconnect. on mine it is tapped directly to the battery so it an easy job to remove. This resets the control box and everything is back to normal.
Quite a good idea to try this first even if you have no tester. If you have run the car low on fuel, it seems that the remote control box continues to remember this even once fuel is added!
Nothing to loose! Thumbs Up Robin

Ok thanks for the replies, really appreciated. It works from a text just the remote that's bugging me but I will try your suggestions. I know its not low fuel as I only ever let it get to 1/2 tank then brim it, so I am never short on fuel.
Will let you know how I get on, I have to go out later and the car is covered in snow at the moment, looking forward to a nice warm car.

1. Are you sure its meant to work from the 3rd button/headlights ?

2. How did you connect the wire to the headlights ?
Maybe you used the wrong wire or the connection isn't good.

Hi Andy k
Yes it is supposed to work from the follow me home lights. I used the colour wiring it said in the instructions, it was also tested for power when the button was pressed. The connections were cut and soldered together, then shrink tubing over it to hold it tight and water proof it.

Thank you Eaters, I did the count to 5 then pressed the button again, 30 seconds later I heard the water pump start then the heater started 30 seconds later. It sends me a text every time it starts to say its running and the starting water temperature. Then again when the temperature reaches 13 degrees, then again when it switches off saying the finishing temperature and it is now off. So my son has renamed it Kitt on my phone, so every time I get a text it reads out as message received from Kitt. Kids eh and he's 19.
