United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

I'm with you there Steve. Unfortunately the robbers/insurance (delete as appropriate) companies will try their hardest to bend you over in what they will give you for your car. OK if you buy a cheap tatty heap, but if you are an enthusiast who spends a bit more on your car and looks after it, you will be out of pocket and not able to replace it like-for-like.

Yeah obviously mate but we aren't fitting the tracker so that we want the car back... it's because it might be the only way for us to not lose our money.

I appreciate the benefits of a tracker as part of a layering system. However most are easily located and simply ripped out.

Preventative measures are far more sensible .

Like what mate?

What is everyone's view on steering wheel locks and tyre clamps?

I ve explained it a few times before.

Disclok to ward off the initial break in and to slow them down if they do attempt it, ghost so they can’t start the car even with the keys, and tracker as a redundancy.

That’s layering. It’s the same principles applied to people / property all over the world in any security situation.

My wife's D4 has Trackstar, so a tip from me: don't do any journeys you wouldn't want the primary user to find out about - like looking at buying a boat Embarassed .

Thanks - fully agree with you.

But would you say its fair to get the tracker fitted AND do all those things that you said, just because the tracker is a requirement for most insurers? It seems thats what im gonna have to do.

If the car is a new (as in 2017/2018MY) then surely it comes with a factory fitted tracker system like my 2015MY did? So what you need is something to beef it up. The LR system also links to a smartphone app where you can see all your journies logged, whether you closed the windows or didn’t lock it and a few other things. The system subscription works for the 1st 3 years. I would think the Ghost would cover everything else and the Disk-loc (I have a Stop-loc instead) covers the visual slow them down device 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Whether it comes with a tracker or not, it needs to be thatcham cat 5+ in order to satisfy insurers.

So unless the new RRs come with a thatcham cat 5 then I'd need to get one fitted

OK, understood. My insurers don’t require anything over and above what LR fits - Land Rover Insurance, but then I live out in the wilds of Central Scotland not in a metropolis with thieves all round. Even after an arrempt to steal my FFRR from my drive the insurers still didn’t want a Tracker fitted. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'd change insurer.

I don't need a tracker (NFU) although it has one anyway (Thatcham Cat 6). One or two (not many) other insurers did want one, but they were happy with the Cat 6 already installed at the factory. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB
