I also had the (snail box) resonator removed on my 4.2 S/C several month's ago and it sounds absolutely amazing, especially when I consider the £100 or so it cost me to have it removed and replaced with 2 x stainless straight pipes.

Got to love that crackle and pop when you back off in Sport mode.

No point paying the fuel bill on these and muffling that V8 song with the factory system.

Don`t suppose you have a sound clip? I want a bit more noise but not too much. Don`t want it sounding like my ST or Scooby did. Steve.

Unfortunately I don't have a sound clip but it's nothing like an ST or STI with a modified exhaust (brother has owned both including an RS with a blueflame system).

My biggest disappointmet with the 4.2 was the lack of V8 rumble and I couldn't be happier as I wanted a deep, slightly menacing rumble without any rasp, and that's exactly what I've got. It sounds way better than any of the aftermarket systems I've heard online, which seem to have a lot of rasp when I was after more of an American muscle car kind of sound. I owned an XF SV8 (same engine) years ago and did exactly the same mod with exactly the same outstanding results.

It's not STI loud but it's definitely louder than the standard system but that's what I wanted. Nice deep rumble on a light throttle and the same at motorway speeds on a constant throttle but absolutely no drone anywhere in the rev range. Revs a fair bit easier at the top end too, which is a nice bonus and shows just how restrictive the factory system is.

Give it the boot though and all hell brakes loose, the front end lifts (pulley upgrade and stage 2 software), the supercharger does its war cry and you're off.

It still feels like the luxury car it is but now it has a dirty bark to go with the bite!

Sounds spot on. It`s the rasp I don`t want...more like, as you say...the American muscle car type sound Thumbs Up I think I need to speak to my local custom exhaust guy to get a price for doing this Thumbs Up Steve.

I think you will absolutely love it.

Be good to hear your thoughts if you go ahead as I think it totally transforms the car.

And a video just doesn't do it any justice as it sounds significantly deeper in person and it's actually a really lovely sound as opposed to just loud noise.

I'll shut up now... Very Happy

mine was slightly cheaper,,considering I did it myself,£13 for 2 metre length of pipe,£10 each for the brackets x4 & 15 minutes of my time to do it.
