On my long quest to find a well looked after, good condition 2013 RRS I may have found one ironically through a friend. Anyway on checking all previous MOT's the last one done in August 2018 had an advisory ' no reading on smoke test' is this an advisory, a fault or just a note? Should I be concerned? Cheers Laurence.

Doing a quick search it looks to be an advisory,,

But to be sure it would be worth phoning your local garage MOT station
and asking them to confirm,,

diesel have a smoke test using a emission equipment. The limit hasn't been changed for as long as ive been in the trade and cars with dpf produce so little "smoke" that it doesn't detect its even having a emission test, the meter wont read a reading that it can pick up.

That is why its advised because no print out is available for records for the tester when the minister turn up it can be stated why there is no record of a emission test when the minister turn up.

Sounds like its as clean as a whistle..

But still worth making the phone call to confirm.. ===========================================

I'm thinking maybe get the current owner to get another smoke test done at an MOT station and a print out before buying? Cheers Laurence.

If it says no reading on smoke test that means the emissions where good,,I now have a dongle that plugs into the obd so even if I don’t get a reading it gives a printout,,,so basically it’s nothing to worry about as it means their wasn’t enough smoke to detect a reading. Andy.
