Not sure about LR but my Mitsubishi PHEV checks starter battery daily at 2pm and tops it up if required from drive battery or mains charger if connected so I don't need the ctek I used on DS and RRSs Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

On PHEV and hybrids there are normally 2 battery types - small 12v for starting and larger for motors - I understand that you start vehicle using small 12v but once vehicle is on you get a green ready message and everything runs off bigger drive battery even if engine is off - starter battery is smaller than normal because it's not doing as much as normal vehicle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Tim I know you leave yours parked long periods and this can be a problem with hybrids

Thanks Muddy, that is great but will LR have thought about this? Also the dealers don't seem to know yet if the price includes a home charger or not or if the car could be left plugged in for say 3 months at a stretch without frying the battery...........

AFAIK every manufacturer supplies a 13amp 3 pin travel charger free with vehicle but these are slow - 5 hours on Mitsubishi

I do fancy a total EV like the Tesla but the range and charging away from home are concerns - I've been up to Scotland twice last month visiting family and wouldn't trust range - then I'd need to recharge which would be an issue

I suppose the general recommendation for Li-ion batteries such as camera or drone batteries also applies to the car Li-ion batteries, which is not to fully charge them when storing for weeks or months, and 50% generally the recommended level for storage and charge to full when ready to use. |

So long as the starter battery is ok, surely the rest is less of an issue. Isn't the idea that the ICE charges the big battery as you go along anyway? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The Mitsubishi PHEV always keeps 30% of traction battery in reserve so shouldn't be an issue and the most efficient method to recharge is mains
