Is replacing the head unit a simple swap over job like on any other car? I don`t use cd`s anymore (don`t even own any) and listening to the poxy radio isn`t working for me

Any advice welcome  Steve.

I used to run my iPhone via the aux lead on my first RRS - not a 2017 solution but it adds another option  16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Simply no it is a lot of work as the hu runs a lot of the other stuff like the sat nav screen there are ways to do it but usually you need to leave it in somewhere hidden thats if you want to keep the touch screen

I`ve just been looking at small mp3 players to use via an aux lead as an alternative. Might be the easier option  Steve.

Ahhh, sounds like a lot of faff. I`m not fussed about the touch screen as I dont`t use it.....but the next owner might  Steve.

You can burn MP3 to a cd and put that in the head unit.
Can even have directories for different albums.

The factory system has an amp under the seat so not easy or cheap to replace.
Have a look round the forum. There is a thread going at the moment about replacement

Yeah mp3 cd`s is another option....not done that for years though  Steve.

It does but from what i have seen it's not and i don't see the touch screen being used but if you don't want it then it look's ok

Have a look through the threads on here, there are a couple of fairly detailed threads that show how to do it.

Basically you dismantle the head unit, leave the middle bit plugged in, inside the dash, get a £170 connection kit and fascia, then fit a double din headunit. If you want to retain the sub, you have to add an amp as well. I've not done it yet, but it doesn't look too hard.

I've just done this at the weekend.

It took me and my mate 12 hours and was a nightmare! I'll be posting about it soon.

It was made harder as I have the Harmon Kardon Logic 7 system and wanted to keep the 4x4 display.

As others have said, I bought a specific loom from Incratec for about £200 and also a Pioneer AVH-Z5000DAD double din head unit for £450 and an additional sub woofer amp for another £200.

I am so glad it all worked and I have kept the 4x4 display and now can use Apple CarPlay, CD, DVD, MP3, USB, Bluetooth, camera etc etc.

It was definitely worth it but is a pig of a job!!!!!

If you're going to use an iPod through the AUX instead, get a lead that plugs in the bottom of iPod (30 pin or whatever, not the headphone plug) and then plugs into AUX port in the car with 3.5mm jack otherwise the volume will be so annoyingly quiet!!

The right lead sorts out that problem. I used that method for a while and the sound was great.
