Special program not available

Little update on this, ok so just fitted a new brake light switch as people have mentioned and thought it done the trick !! So now when I first start engine I can now flick through the terrain settings, I couldn't do this before !! But, after around 20 seconds I get the bong sound and system fault special program not available pop up, then terrain settings don't do anything and no lights on the knob etc. Any ideas ?? I am planning to have it plugged in its just getting time

Brake light bulbs will cause this
HDC relay fault would also do this as would an ABS issue (although that should throw a light on the dash).

Terrain Response responds to faults in other systems. Other than a faulty TR module, which is unlikely, the issue will be elsewhere.

Fault codes will help. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thank you !! So is it dealer only for the brake bulbs or is there a particular brand to buy as I no not all dealers use or stuff as I used to supply main agents with aftermarket parts. Also is there just 1 hdc relay if i was to ask for one and where would i find this ? Thanks again

I had similiar issues when I first owned the car, a new brake light switch and Osram tail/brake bulbs cured the problem until the alternator failed, then the same alarms were occasionally appearing.

Just last month started getting special program faults again and read a fault code along the lines of transfer box clutch at limit. This was down to a poor electrical connection at the transfer box, separated the plug, squirt of contact cleaner and no further fault codes.

Special program faults, HDC faults and high/low range faults appear for all manner of reasons which call for a little detective work to find the culprit, usually electrical. All part of the fun Thumbs Up

HDC relay is hardwired in to the engine bay fuse box. I guess that means a new box. That's going to be a non-trivial cost. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Ok so done brake switch yesterday, just done brake bulbs and both was a little black so replaced with osram bulbs, still getting specai program not available ? One thought tho is I have no high level brake light because I have a none standard tailgate top spoiler !! Should there be a top brake light ? Could this be an issue ??

I take it this problem has only just occurred on the disco and the spoiler has been on for a while so that should not cause the issue Thumbs Up

Next step is to get the faults read then as i assume there are no warning lights on the dash to give you a clue as where to start and no battery issues that your aware off or any spill/fluid marks around the area Thumbs Up

A missing spoiler brake light won't cause it

yeah it does need to be read with a proper land rover tool anyone near you got an IID or nanocom you can ask them to read the codes for you i had similar to you except the button's did stuff but used to come up with hdc fault and special programs not available and that was the battery but yours seems a bit more than that do the high range switches and suspension switches work Thumbs Up
