Evening All,

So I'm having a brainstorm regards the standard analogue TV tuner available for the RRS. Basically if I look at the attached wiring diagram for the TV receiver it seems that the C2117 sockect/ plug is fairly empty but allows for video and audio input.

Is this correct? If so what video format as CVBS is just a reference to video and not the codec like PAL or SECAM etc.

If this is the case does the unit auto select the input to transfer it to the video output on the same plug and run the audio over the MOST?



Would really appreciate any help as this may provide a solution to my problems with some added benefits.

If the answer is positive then I'll have some follow-up questions...

So I have the TV tuner temporarily installed and after 'activating' it in the CCFs using my IID Tool it shows and can be selected on the touch screen, as can the reversing camera which switches automatically.

Currently I'm missing all the aerials etc but that isn't a problem at the moment as this was never my primary focus, but will come later.

The question I have now is what is the signal type from the Analogue TV receiver to the touch screen? Is it something like PAL or SECAM, or something totally different? Could somebody tell me that?

Also would be useful if somebody could share their analogue TV user manual and installation guide if possible.

Most now have a Digital Tuner fitted or dual, as analogue is no longer transmitted. Using the PAL system in the UK, but of course it varies in the different countries model is meant for. SECAM, NTSC etc. John

So have you fitted the complete range rover tv system or is it an aftermarket setup

Just the analogue TV receiver currently. Used the power & MOST cables from the BT module to check it works.

When I'm back from my trip I'm going to try and directly input a video signal into the TV receiver and see if that's passed through to the screen.

If that doesn't work I'll try a direct signal into the back of the 2010 Touch screen on the TV input and see if that works.

If not back to the drawing board.....

I have roosen dvd players in mine and would like to know if its possible to connect them to the back of my 2012 head unit in my 2005 sport so would need to know what pins to the rear rof the head unit are used for video input as i dont think i can go down the most route or maybe i can

Hi Geoff,

Right from what I understand you will need to input the signal into the 6 pin plug that's used for the reversing camera. The camera uses pins 2 & 5. For TV input it's either 1 & 4 or 3 & 6, not sure which though. The problem is that the touchscreen needs an input from either the TV module or Companion Cam module to 'open' these options on the touch screen. Hence I bought the cheapest analogue TV module to have a play.

As I said previously having changed the CCF the TV module is now recognised and works insofar that I can scan channels but with no antenna there's no picture.

Now the TV module has a main plug which if you look at my first post has 2 'optional' video inputs on the main plug for video feeds, as well as audio feeds for the same which seem not to have any connections....

So once I'm back in Oman and have some time I'll be running a video cable from the TV module video out to the back of the touch screen and then seeing how things go from there.

Can't help you further at the moment.

All I know right now is the more I'm look at this the more I'm tending to change my own build and run the audio from the Android head unit to the audio in of the OEM stereo and get as much functionality as possible from the D4 screen as possible as this could be the ultimate solution, at least for me.

so as i have an aftermarket system from what you said it should work from fitting an av lead from the tv to the back of the screen but then i would need a way of turning that screen on to the tv channel if i don't fit a tv tuner or maybe take out my tmc modual as the screen has it built in and replace it with a tv modual

I think the main issues are the trigger via TV module (solved) and then getting the video feed to work either directly into the touch screen or via the TV module. 2006 RRS S/C CONSTANTLY under modification...

so to trigger the tv button you fitted a tv and then edited the ccf maybe worth a go

Have a look here.

From this it looks like you need to connect to pins 3 & 6.

However the touch screen/ system needs to recognise the TV module. Even when I activated the TV module in the CCF I couldn't select the TV on the touch screen. Therefore I suspect you will need the module for any chance of it working.

If you can give me some time then I can give it a try direct into the back of the screen. I presume you already have the audio fed through the aux in?

I'm not sure how that will work because once you select the TV it look for sound via the TV module and not the aux in....

I don't have that problem as my audio comes from the Android HU and goes directly to the speakers. I only want to display the video image on the OEM screen so I can retain navigation on the main HU screen.

Geoff,

Am I correct about how your Rosen unit is wired up?

If so then it might be better for you to use the Companion Cam, as I presume this had no audio. Therefore if selected on the touch screen any audio input playing over Aux In would continue. However you'd need to confirm that 'theory' by finding a user manual for the CC.

The above is just a thought but I think the best option for you possibly.
