winter tyres - TPMS sensors

Hi all

I want to change to winter tyres, the all-season rubber on my 2016 AB are OK but I doubt they will do for a true Scottish highland winter. If I am changing the tyres over, do I need to purchase new TPMS sensors?

and if so is there a certain frequency / tips / spec? Do I have to by LR only?
many thanks

Ricky

If you're changing just tyres - no. The sensor is attached to the wheel.. If you are changing wheels and tyres, you'll need sensors on the new wheels. The car should pick up the new sensors quite quickly, but to save any possible hassle, I would just get programmable TPMS sensors and clone the ID so the winter wheels have the same IDs as the summer wheels.

thanks Syl

super quick and very clear, I am only changing tyres as I cant stretch to extra wheels. I will look for programmable TPMS sensors anyway so I am upto speed with the tech

thanks

If you are just changing tyres then you don't need new sensors,,let the tyre company know they have sensors as they have to put the rims in a certain place on the tyre machine so not to damage the sensor or the tyre.
