Good Morning

For some reason when I park my car up and get out press the key fob to lock the car the horn just sounds and the car will not lock, when sitting in the car the doors lock ok but with the drivers door closed a message on the dash says drivers door open! Is there a way to over ride this so I can lock my car?

Not sure this helps you much but the horn sounding is an audible warning to let you know that something is not shut properly and therefore the system can't arm.

Might sound dumb but have you gone round and opened and shut every single door, boot and bonnet just in case one of the sensors is reading something.

It could be something as simple as the boot not shut properly or the bonnet.

Yeah I've double checked all doors the problem seems to be with the drivers door not seeing that it's closed it seems if I slam it hard it then locks ok so I'm guessing door lock mechanism fault or is there a simple fix / over ride?

The door lock needs changing. Had this on mine last year. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
