I'm so sorry to hear that it must have really cheesed you off to call your holiday short for a questionable land rover product!!

Very bad and sad news, and a shame you felt you had to cut short your holiday. It's one of the first years of the Mk2 model, mileage doesn't always come into the equation.

Thanks Alex, more then anything I am disappointed of loosing the trust, and like your father, that I may not enjoy it anymore. I had freelander 2 for 6 years and no problems, but then paid 3 rimes as much and this failing under 2 years. I have only delt with the European LR team who are arranging everything, but lets see what LRUK response would be when I return. |

I know it is pants, but hopefully you will get a 2 year old car back with a brand new, uprated version of the same engine. JLR and all manufacturers evolve their components as their understanding of the units / failures / etc happen during a life cycle of the product.

If metal filings have gone through the motor you need a full replacement engine. I had this happen on a Saab they replaced the block and had to do the job twice as metal was in turbo and ended up through the motor again. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW. |

Shell is no problem. But oil specs are important. They should have used Shell Helix Ultra Professional 5W30 AF-L (A so called C1 oil). RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux
