Unlucky!
No spare? How come it's on a tow truck, are you trying to save fuel? Rolling with laughter 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Yeah, every little helps Laughing
There was no hard shoulder and the slipway was a too far ahead to risk riding the rim.
I had two police cars pull up and shut the lane because where I had come to a stop was unsafe. Luckily I had a spare and it was in good condition however it is only a space saver so I couldn't make it to the office on the mileage they give you.
New tyre ordered but Wednesday was the earliest it could be delivered and fitted. Luckily I can work from home. Thumbs Up 2007 L320 3.6 TDV8 HSE Java Black

That's comforting. They were on the car when I bought it but I've got them all around... Neutral 2007 L320 3.6 TDV8 HSE Java Black

Standard fit Pirelli's aren't much better. I had the same issue on the M6 smart motorways section. Not funny at all, and the number of people hurtling towards your stationary car and dodging it right at the last moment as you watch on helpless is terrifying. Had to be recovered off at a charge of £250 Censored Also had one on the A7. Both time both tyres were at correct pressure and with plenty of tread and no visible damage.

Shocked The A43 isn't quite as busy as a motorway thank goodness. Unlucky with the recovery charge. I'd recently changed my bank account to include break down cover for £10 a month but that also covers phone and travel insurance so that got it's first use. 2007 L320 3.6 TDV8 HSE Java Black

Highways England insisted I was recovered off the M6 b1y their contractors as the car was not driveable and they said the AA etc would not touch the job to change the tyre as too dangerous. Even though they shut the whole motorway for ten mins while I was winched onto a truck - more than enough time to have changed the ******* wheel, the Censored ! I got recovered to a truck stop nearby, mugged for £250 ("Sorry mate, standard Highways England charge"), called my insurers and they sent a boy out to sort it all out, but the recovery charge itself off the motorway was deemed a non insurable matter.

Sorry I'm sure that's bullshit, if you have recovery service membership, you are entitled to use it, even after a crash. (If covered by membership)
I've had to call them out (AA & Green Flag) twice now after a blowout, and a coil spring snapping taking out the tyre on a former car MG ZTT. Police had to close lanes 1 & 2 on M6 for the spring break, as car couldn't be driven onto hard shoulder, unfortunately quite a bit of damage. They kept motorway open on lane 3, eventually towed my car onto hard shoulder Whistle and awaited the AA. No mention of having to use Highway Agencies companies tow services.
I would check that out further and fight for recovery of cost.

John, it's not bullshit. Why would I make that up ? Two Highways England officers confirmed to me that this was what had to be done and that the AA etc (or in my case contractors used by Elephant) would not come out. They were not offering to close only 2 of the four lanes, and as I said they shut the entire 4 lanes while the recovery truck winched me on. I did discuss the fee with Elephant who did refuse to cover it.

I don't appreciate being called out for a bullshitter or essentially making something up. I was there and this is what happened.

Bear in mind there was no hard shoulder, this was 4 lane no hard shoulder smart motorway, all 4 lanes live, no refuge bay to pull in to, vehicle undriveable. As I said.

Leither. I think if you read back what Johnski has said, you will see he is not calling you bullshit but AA and highway guys bullshit for the fact that you had to pay for the tow off and not being able to claim in on AA

He has even suggested you look into it "I would check that out further and fight for recovery of cost."
