Sat nav keeps trying to make you go the back roads

My sat nav is set to use major roads, but it keeps telling me to use back roads it's so annoying, does anyone have any ideas

I am having similar issues too on my MY2005. It refuses to go on the motorway and I cant find any settings to alter it.

I have got a Tom Tom, got it a while back as the sat nav in the D2 was pretty useless, but better than the one in the sport. just wondered if all the sport ones were so bad, seems strange for such a high end car.

On my 2008 RRS the sat nav gives me 3 options after I've set a destination. Quick, Normal and Short. Quick tends to use fast roads (motorways etc) even if the distance is longer. Short (as the name suggests) is the shortest distance and will take all the back roads no matter what if that's the least miles. Normal is somewhere in the middle. Robin

Must admit I haven't had any of the noted problems, and as others (Stevepd) I get a choice of three routes for any destination input, giving number of miles and journey time in hours and minutes. These routes have different colours and the route can be previewed. Smile
There is a wide choice of settings on what roads to use or avoid, Toll, ferry included or motorways etc, the quickest route is frequently the longest miles journey. If you program RDS to be incorporated in your journey it will reroute as required to avoid hold ups. You should find all these settings over a few screens under Sat Nav Menu. Thumbs Up John
