Potential RRS Autobiography SDV6 purchase

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum as I've been looking at buying a 2016 RRS Autobiography as my first RR.

I had a 2017 HSE Dynamic out on test drive and loved it, but I'm aware there are differences between the 16 and 17 models. I've done my research into both, but I'd like some owners advice as to what to expect.

If I purchase the 16 model, am I likely to be disappointed coming from the 17 after a weekend test drive? I know the infotainment system is different but it is significantly so? Did much else change?

I'm concerned that I'm perhaps selling myself short if I don't go for the 17, but the price variances are significant.

I'd welcome some of your views and advice please!

Thanks
R90

As far as I know apart from the Ict changes not much else did actually alter between the my16.5 & my17, whatever you decide age wise I would definitely get an AB over an Hse dynamic. One thing you really need to do is ensure you buy your new RRS at the bottom end of the price bracket, if you check the LR approved used ones there is approx a £10k variance across the various ages, I usually check the up to one year olds as I have a 66plate Hse dynamic high spec car with stealth pack so want to keep an eye on what other similar ones are selling for. For example I was considering buying a new current model AB & got various trade in pieces for mine which were terribly low, I checked what similar specked cars to mine were retailing at which was around £67k, basic ones could range from £59k obviously these didn't have the stealth pack or panoramic roof etc mine had but the dealers base your trade price on a basic car then retail it at full whack, needless to say I'll be keeping mine for a while yet!

In short you want to get the right age, mileage, spec & colour you want for the lowest price you can possibly negotiate, all the dealers tell me that this time of year is not good for selling as in summer not many people think about buying 4x4's similarly no one buys convertible's in the winter!

Good deals are available on new ABs as the 2018 model will be out soon with more changes, 8% discount, deposit contributions, free service plans are all easily negotiated if you can find a dealer needing to hit targets.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

I wasn't aware the current 17 model was also due for a regen soon. I presume it's adopting the tech from the velar.

I'm dealing with a dealer at the moment on the car I'm interested in. 16 plate, £64500 with 13,481 on the clock. I don't have the full spec sheet, only the standard AB kit, but do have the vin number. Is there any way to check the spec using that?

I might look into what the price differences are buying new then. I won't get an AB for £65k but it's worth seeing what's around as I did prefer the new ICT.

Anything else I should be aware of when looking?

Thanks
R90

I was looking earlier, you should get a 66plate with a bit less miles than that for around £67k as long as your willing to travel & negotiate, only other negative is if your trading in as they will give you crap money on any other marque, I had to suck up a big hit on my 9 month old X6 but at the time the rest of the deal was way better than anywhere else on my Hse dynamic!

Triple 7, I've been quoted between £54-£56k in September for mine with around 9000 miles on it then, not enough considering similar ones are currently retailing at mid to late £60's, after checking last night there is a nice black one at a dealer down south on a 66plate with low miles retailing at £60k! That is what annoys me is the Huge disparity in prices for very similar spec cars, with similar mileages & age.

You should be able to get the full Spec Sheet if you have the VIN from Topix, https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/lookupForm

You will have to register first then enter the vehicle details. It should also bring up any outstanding Technical Updates (not servicing) details, as well.

Hope this helps,

Thanks all I'll keep looking.

Is their any spec on the AB that are must haves from an ownership perspective? I seem to be missing the below spec:

LESS AUTOMATED PARKING SYSTEM
LESS AUXILLARY BATTERIES
LESS BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYS
LESS ENGINE BLOCK HEATER
LESS EXTR MIR-ELCTR CHROMATIC
LESS FIRST AID KIT
LESS FRONT SEAT SQUAB ARTICULA
LESS GARAGE DOOR OPENER
LESS HEAD UP DISPLAY
LESS KIT-TIRE REPAIR SERVICE
LESS LANE CONTROL
LESS LOADSPACE STOWAGE RAILS
LESS PARK HEATING
LESS PROXIMITY MIRRORS
LESS REAR ENTERTAINMENT SCREEN
LESS REAR SEAT REMOTE DEVICES
LESS RSE LANGUAGE
LESS SMOKERS PACK
LESS THIRD ROW SEATING
LESS TOWING EQUIPMENT
LESS TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION
LESS TRAILER HITCH GUIDE
LESS WATER WADING AID

I thought those in bold above were standard on the AB?

Thanks
R90

No, I don't think they are. I'm sure I had to pay extra for the various packages that include those items.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Hi Riddler,

I have a very high spec HSE Dynamic reg March 29th 2017 that I'm thinking of getting out of. I paid £74k and would move on for £66k, black on black, pan roof, meridian, fridge, heated steering wheel, with the newer infotainment/incontrol system... Remote park heat, electric towbar, diamond turned wheels...

It has 1800 miles on the clock.

That was would be awesome if you could!

The MY17 brochure is a bit misleading given the differences.
