Thanks for the reply, now I know what version the LR Main Dealer promised to load but didn't and then told me that my maps were up to date when in fact they are nearly 5 years old!

I have heard stories about it taking up to 4hrs to update the maps with the engine running? How long did yours take? Final question, did you buy the update from LR or direct from HERE?

1.How long will it take to download the map data?
The complete download process may take up to 2.5 hours dependent on the amount of information in the map region download. An example of current USB download times is shown in the following list:
• Europe - 2 hours 25 minutes
• NAS - 2 hours 03 minutes
• Russia - 29 minutes"

I updated my maps with a thumb drive I purchased from HERE, about 3 weeks ago.

The European Maps took exactly 2 hours 30 minutes to upload.

I performed this on a drive down to Edinburgh which takes me around 3 hours 30 minutes. However, you can upload incrementally as it will pick up from where it left off SO LONG AS YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE THUMB DRIVE!!! Following upload it takes around 30 minutes to sort its self out and decide where it really is in space and time. After that it is quite reliable.
