Do not start engine, get in touch with dealer. Would suggest you get your money back then go find another car. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

I paid strong money for the car £10k with 126k on the clock because it has a full service history, does anybody know what rights I have with car dealers?

It must be fit for purpose, and I hardly think this one is.

Thanks for the advice, I have the Oil and Filter, I havent looked in the filter yet I may leave it undamaged so that if needed it can be sent for analysis.

I would also get in touch with the garage you bought it from because something is clearly very wrong and although it may go on like that for a while I suspect it won't so whilst you are covered legally as I believe you get a minimum of 3 months warranty from a dealer I would put it in there hands, offer to the return the car for a refund or if they prefer they could always pay for it to go a garage to be put right but don't let them choose where.

How can you prove the oil and filter came from that RRS? Did you change it yourself, or a garage etc.? Short of pouring it all back in and taking to a local independent garage to verify things then I imagine it'd be very hard to prove. Just saying because as soon as you approach the dealer I'd expect that will be the first thing they'd say, so best to get it all thought through. It's possible there could be enough additional contaminants to have an independent take a sample of the new oil and send for analysis, but I expect this would possibly need to be agreed with the dealer before they'd accept the results. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine 14MY Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SD4 Black Pack - wife's 99MY Defender 90 TD5, Soft Top Conversion - my toy, and bairns favourite |

A tad late now as the engine is however please take a lot of care when fitting the oil filter, as a incorrectly fitted filter will finish the engine off. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
