Leaking rear differential seal

Visit to local dealer after finding lubricant under the rear axle on the garage floor. Second vehicle they have seen with a leaking seal. They don't have the required tool to remove / replace the seal yet. LR also supposed to be looking at the fault and have issued a service note or similar to dealers. Topped up levels but not significant loss. Dealer will keep in touch over coming weeks.

That RRS2 was on a 63 plate. Dealer checked levels and advised to monitor whilst the tool was obtianed. Since changed to 16 plate model amd no issues.

Minor issue at the time, more bothered about the driveway...

Same problem 2015 MY Autobiography.
Diagnosed in February at home by LRA as I did not know how long it had been leaking and whether level was low.
He booked it into dealer and sorted. Took a couple of weeks due (I was told) to heavy workload.
I had a Disco Sport for that time.
LRA man said it was not common........

Had a new diff fitted to mine a short while ago for the exact same issue. MY16. 13k miles

Also got the "no special tool available to facilitate repair" line, which I do find, um, strange.

Whatever, the new diff works fine, and it cured the high speed driveline vibes, too. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Interesting reading My MY15.5 is booked in next week to have oil leak from rear diff fixed. Told they have to get oil looked at. If it contains bits of metal they replace diff. Car has done 26000 kilometers. 16000 of those towing my off-road caravan.

You must need a step ladder to get in and out of that, lol. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Yeah van is certainly high but great off road. Now just had a call from service guy. Found oil leak in diff but also found a bearing rotates in diff housing therefore new diff required. I have a rear locking diff and none available in Australia. Has to be ordered from U.K. Will take a minimum of 2 weeks to arrive. Guess I will just have to enjoy the new Evoque they provided.
Cheers
