United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

The gearbox needs to be in drive for the diffs to show on the 4x4 screen. One way to get it showing diff locks is put it in rock crawl and as you pull away it should lock the diffs. Certainly it will lock the centre diff so presumably the rear too. It will show as a closed red padlock. It's a green open padlock otherwise.

Edit: sorry, needs to be in an off road Terrain Response mode to show the diffs. Diffs are open in normal road mode. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I will go out to my L494 and see what happens and see if I can get photos.

OK this is my Driver Info screen in the middle of the dash - the 4x4 info on the satnav is the same view except on driver info the speed view moves a bit to the right......... the joys of a TFT screen!

1) Engine running, Low Range and Rock Crawl on TR engaged, Offroad height set, in D - note the white sectors around the difflocks indicate how much they are locked

2) Engine running as above but the car moving slowly on my drive

3) And with reverse engaged the rear diff is open

The V5 says HST and the spec has rear locking diff so I'd say it's a factory HST unless someone can show otherwise. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Agree with above - if it were a Dealer or DIY HST that would not show on the V5 - basically those cars are "converted" 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

What you really need to do is get it onto some wet grass (even on the flat) or on a muddy track and watch the 4x4 info screen. I cannot remember if the L320 screen gives as much info as my L494's with regard to how much the diff is locked but it will certainly change colour from red/green or vice versa. If you do go onto a green lane to try it out you wouldn't need to select Rock Crawl as the rear diff will lock up as needed. Do you have an Experience Centre near you as they would be happy to take you onto their simulator where they can force the e-diff to work and they would be happy to show you the functions on your car rather than what the latest models have - there is an even more advanced TR system on 2016 and 2017MY RRS than I have on my 2015 car - I have Auto Terrain Response 2 but the later cars also get All Terrain Progress Control - sort of offroad cruise control that works in conjunction with the Auto TR2. TBH I don't bother with the Auto TR, I prefer to use the settings manually.

BTW, on my pictures above, in case you are wondering, the green sector on my speedo shows the speed that the Hill Desent will be activated. On your car and on mine you can vary the speed at which the anchor is thrown out of the back by clicking the + and - keys for the cruise control. I wouldn't normally drive at the speed setting shown on a slope where HDC were needed and would set the cut in speed a lot lower. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
