Auto to manual= one change down

Folks this may be something or just me getting used to the car (2 weeks now). We I move the stick from Auto to +/- it changes down one gear, to which I just + and put it (usually) into 6th. Is this normal?.

2006 RRS HSE 6 speed (sorry don't know which one!).

Steve.

Normal your putting the car into sports mode so it drops a gear ready to accelerate or as you e already found out you can select the gear manually. Almost like having 3 gearboxes in 1. Also if I remember correctly in sports mode it won't select 6th gear unless you select it manually with command shift. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

No that is a furfy.

In Sport Mode it will automatically go into 6th gear but it takes a lot longer to do it - not sure of the exact, parameters but the car has to be going faster than something like 85kph and hold a steady speed for a minute or two - so not likely when driving around town but does it on the freeway - likewise if you are at about 110kph on the freeway and change to sport mode it does not change down to 5th. Going slower - say 80 and it will.
