Call Alive Tuning or Bell Auto Services for definitive answer but my understanding is you cannot blank a tdv8....keep your receipt |

Someone posted a while back having had his TDV8 EGR's successfully blanked by a company in Bristol, working out cheaper than replacing the EGR's. The company are apparently very experienced at doing this.

I also read on here that's it's not recommend for the tdv8, but the person saying that didn't give any more info on why not. The guy who had them replaced did say that his fuel consumption had improved a lot too |

Hi thanks for the replys. I've had the egr's mapped out now and I've just fitted the blanking plates. The car runs much better now and no lights on the dash. I have been told that the butterfly valves need removing now though but can't see how the butterflys come out. Has anyone else done this or will I be ok leaving them in? |

S16 ARV , did anyone get back to you about the butterfly on a tdv8? As I'm also trying to find out, seem to find a lot about the tdv6 but not the tdv8 |

You need to snip or cut out the butterfly valves. Remove the unit and do it off the car is easier and less risk of bits of plastic floating in the engine!

So Ive fitted my blanking plates and mapped out the EGR's, I haven't removed the butterfly's as I'm not convinced they need to be. So far less smoke and spool up seems a little faster, but that's all I could say. Took about 45minutes to swap out. |

I’ve had the EGR’s blanked including a software adjustment on my MY 2008 5 months and 20.000 km’s ago, the car runs great.
