DEF/ADblue confusion

My MY16 has a DEF/ADBlue system.

It is currently showing an advance warning saying it is getting low.

I have a number of questions...

1. The videos show a special top-up bottle with a custom nozzle on top and , of course, say these are from the dealer. I notice that other commercial outlets have similar looking bottles (such as https://unipartautostore.com/adblue1-5l.ht...g9g8P8HAQ) do these fit?

2. It seems to suggest that the user can only "top-up" and the dealer has to re-fill, is this correct?

3. As an extension to question 2, garages sell bulk containers without the special nozzle e.g. https://unipartautostore.com/unipart-adblu...litre.html . Can I just pour it in from these (using funnel etc) or do I need a special nozzle bottle? And why can't I simply fill it to the top rather than just top up?. The whole dealer only scheme seems to be a revenue generation scheme for what is effectively p i s s i n g (UREA) in a tank 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

If you have the 5 year service plan just take it to the dealer and they will fill it up as part of the deal.

The AdBlue system is not specific to any make, so anyone's kit will do. You can buy adapters on-line, or you could buy one bottle like in your first link then cut the bottom off and use it as a funnel/adapter (an ordinary funnel wouldn't be the same). You can buy AdBlue in bulk all over the place, it doesn't need to be a garage. Supposedly the system can tell if you're using incorrect fluid, so best not to Censored in it! Laughing You certainly don't need to patronize the stealer! Evil or Very Mad

AdBlue is the same all over, I buy it for our Merc GL from a local BP garage. To date I've had to put in 30 liters in the 15 months of ownership. Cost me a nudge over £30. The Merc dealer wanted £75 to put in the same Rolling Eyes and it's more hassle than doing it at my leisure at home. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Just been told by Hunters Land Rover that it is £30 for a full refill, and takes about 20mins on their machine, cheaper than buying the bottles and doing it yourself!

I did it myself over the weekend. Bulk container of Adblue was £10. Turned out to be simplest just to pour it in, it took 15 litres 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit
