339 miles yesterday from Devon to Gatwick and back, the computer said 35.3mpg at an average speed of 50.9mph. I filled up with £50 of fuel and to be honest I think I ate into about £10 of what was already in the tank, so I think the actual mpg was around 31 which is still pretty damn good. Whoever made the mpg calculator obviously failed his/her maths exam

No wings required ! If I was to carry on driving like miss daisy and got the 115 miles the range quoted then it would only be just over 400 miles total from a full tank of fuel ! What's so amazing about that ? 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior 2012 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography santorini black with ebony/cirrus interior. Gone |

An update on mine. I've been doing a couple of 80 mile trips each day lately - on South-East A roads. So just poodling along really. Average speed is 33.1 mph. Reading from the optimistic computer says 30.5 mpg. Actual (full tank to full tank) is about 27 mpg. But I don't think that is that bad for a 9 year old diesel V8

And just as an aside, I tend to use the remote FBH even now its warmer weather. So it runs for up to half an hour before I start off each day. Can't see that it can do any harm and it may help the old girl with fuel consumption and other things. Anyone any views on whether this is a good idea or not Robin

I do this whenever I remember as while it may use a little extra fuel before starting, I reckon it might be partially offset with a quicker warm engine, but my thoughts are more on reduced engine wear (I cringe when I see folk leaving engines idling in winter to 'warm' them).
