With all this negative talk going on about Diesels in the motoring press I have had a good play on the configurator and have noticed that the P380 petrol residuals are now pretty much the same as the D300 Diesel! I think I may just get the bleedin petrol now Mr. Green

BTW - some trivia - The most ordered colour for the Velar so far (according to the chaps there) is Corris Grey.

Thanks for the pictures. I would never have guessed that was corris in the pictures. I fully agree from the start i fancied the P380 just curious how that engines feels as we know the Diesel is a peach with lots of low down torque. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Thats very true - the Torque of the D makes the drive pretty effortless in a sport and on a Velar it's 0.5 secs quicker to 60 - should be a hoon!

saw you arrive in your black merc Very Happy

I still can`t make my mind up if I like it or not. I don`t think it`s worth the money

But all the hype and the fact you`ll probably end up with cheap 12 months motoring is making me think it`ll grow on me.

When the sport gets all the tech changes it will be a better car in my eyes. But like people have mentioned that`ll go up in price accordingly

My friend who also has one on order and was with me is in the same boat as you - I think the cheap motoring bit is going to be pretty true!

Your spec looks great and that's a nice healthy options list! What did they say about the reasons to go for 2L and did you not consider air suspension on the D240?

Sorry, think I worded that poorly. They didn't give reasons to choose a 2.0 diesel over a 3.0 diesel, it was more a petrol vs diesel comparison they gave depending on journeys. I've picked out my own reasons for the 2.0 being a reasonable choice. In fairness if/when I order one I'm sure I will just go for the 3.0 anyway, just because lol 2012 RRS SDV6

Phew, just got home from a fantastic day in Solihil and then later catching up with a few local friends from around there for a big fat meal Very Happy

As others said above - there were three cars on display today - One Full Fat in the Matte Flux Silver, One HSE Dynamic in Corris Grey and one SE in Firenze Red with Black pack. There were no S spec cars available to view - not surpising as we wer told in the presentation that 85% of orders received so far are for the higher spec cars!

It was confirmed to me by their on site specialist that only the 3 litre Dynamic R get's the square exhausts tips and all the others get black down facing pipes.

It was a productive day as the dealers do not have the leather and paint samples as yet so got to see what a black pack actually looks like (it's gloss black like on the Evoque rather than Matte Black like on the RRS) and also got to see the Navy Blue top spec windsor leather in person which I thought looks fantastic.

The fit and finish of the car really was fantastic.

The factory tour was great although the factory was closed today there were loads of cars on the production line and many built up Velars in lower spec scattered around the factory in various places in various colours (got to see white, byron blue, carpathian grey, corris grey, and flux silver but no black cars that I saw today.

The most surprising aspect for me was to see the F Pace's and Various spec RRS all being built on the same production lines! There was F pace, RRS, RRS, F pace, F pace, RRS etc - in no particular order or spec! We were told the car's are built as orders come in - no car panels are pre-painted etc and the car is only ever actually built up once an order is received unlike many other manufacturers who just build various cars and specs and have them "ready made".

We also got to see some lovely history of the company and some classic cars on display in a newly built wing in their factory which is not yet open on the public - we were ginny pigs trying it out for them!

It was confirmed that production begins end April/Early may with deliveries beginning from end August/early September Thumbs Up

Right I'm off to the configurator now as some more playing around to do corris, white, corris white, arghhhh dilemma! Mr. Green

I REALLY liked that Navy Blue leather, I've specced a standard ebony black, which is the easy/boring option, but wish I was brave enough to choose the blue as I think it is something just a little bit special. 2012 RRS SDV6

The 3.0D comes with air suspension (!) so works out not too much more than the D240! Also you get those nice square exhaust pipes - as long as you are choosing dynamic-R - so I agree that's probably what you'll end up choosing!

I'm in the same boat as you, but my short journeys are pointing me to petrol. However, the 3.0 SC is super expensive, as its only available in HSE trim. I'm having a hard time spec'ing......

Thanks for the info. I need to do a bit more research before ordering, as I didn't know some of the things being mentioned on here. 2012 RRS SDV6

I have indeed TDV8HST. I think it looks a bit long, low and bland in black - maybe if it had 22's and the black pack it would have looked nicer! I really need to see a white one with black roof and stealth pack - so far no luck! I wish I get to see one before the orders go in!
