RRS 4.2 v8 supercharged 2008 maintenance

Hi all, I've just rejoined the RRS family by buying an 08 RRS supercharged. I had an 07 2.7tdv6 before so I'm pretty familiar with the car. Was just wondering what advice you guys could give on things to change, maintain etc on this particular type of model ? It's had new bushes at the front as usual so that's a start even though it does clunk and squeek a bit especially in dry weather. The car is a beast an it only has 64k on the clock with full history. What other things do I need to look at ? Is it due a gearbox oil flush and filter etc ?

Any advice is greatly welcomed!

The gearbox is the same as any other rrs, oil needs changing at 100k miles or 10 years, as for the engine, the spark plugs last for 100k miles so you don't need to worry about those. Use high quality oil (I use Fuchs Titan Race Pro), if you don't it'll end up needing new timing chains (I was told by a LR dealership that its a 20 or 30 hour job) the kit alone is nearly £500.

I'm not sure when LR fixed the issue but there were quite a few 4.2's that had the AUX pump wired incirrectly causing it to run backwards, might be worth having a look to confirm yours is wired correctly (It's a 5 min job).

The petrol engines are a reliable engine though, so other than what I've mentioned; enjoy the extra smile factor when you press the loud pedal Twisted Evil

Oh, it might be worth looking at getting a stainless exhaust for it. I relaced mine with a cutom made one and it now uses nearly 1/4 of a tankt less than it used to on the same 250 mile journey (Somerset to Lancashire). That and you can hear the V8..

Many thanks for your reply ! Love the V8 sound and so do the public when I pass them !

This aux pump, can you give me more info ? Where is it ? What am I looking at ?

So currently, I've not got anything to do with the age and mileage ?

Again, thanks !

Hello. There is a tsb explaining the supercharger coolant pump wiring, but generally the only way you find out, if you are driving hard in hot weather. An error comes up saying reduced power. Pull up and turn ignition off and back on clears it. I found mine was incorrectly wired doing 80 up the steep hills into Monaco, so it probably will not affect most cars in the UK. I had my sc for seven years and it was only while in the south of France that it ever played up. On the upside the coolant pump is only around £120 and you just shave a lug off to enable the connector to be reversed. MY12 RRS HSE
