Anyone know the EPB reset procedure on a MY16 L494 3.0D HSE D (with the TRW rear calipers that have the EPB motors mounted directly on the back of them?)

I did look at the "brake bible" referenced a few times here, but it seems not relevant to this setup. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

HI Wilf, Took my rear pads out remove epb electric connection and removed calipers to clean ,put all back together with no epb issues. Just make sure epb is off before attempting work ,

Thanks. Lots of googling and I found a late model Evoque procedure which seems to work. Puts the EPB into "maintenance mode", i.e. fully retracted, while you replace the pads.

Yes, the Evoque procedure worked.

Ignition on, engine off:

Hold EPB switch in "off" position for two seconds, then, keeping it pressed, floor the accelerator for two seconds.

Holding both in the same position, toggle ignition off then on rapidly - EPB goes to "service" or "maintenance" mode.

Turn ignition off and replace pads.

To reset - do the same thing but holding the EPB switch in the "on" position.

How do the pistons in the calipers retract when fitting new pads? Is it just a case of pushing them back or twisting? I read somewhere it is done electronically, but hoping not.

I just levered mine back. No twisting required IIRC. Could w ell depend on actual brakes fitted. Mine were Brembos. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
