Another problem just raised its ugly head!!

Hi Guys

i kinda need a bit of ...... well urgent help really due to security of my car.

Ok, so RRS 2007 HSE, the wife said a couple of days ago that the boot keeps unlocking itself after she has locked it, i said ahhh you must be catching the third logo button, she swears she hadn't.

didn't give it much thought, so took my youngest football training tonight and when we came back to the car it wouldn't unlock,
no buttons worked, started to panic then thought ill try the boot, sure enough i just lifted the tailgate, then the buttons worked to unlock the rest of the car.

drove home, locked the car. after maybe 5 -10 seconds i hear the boot unlock and pop up a tiny bit. open and shut it, re- lock the car and it does it again. I'm gonna be going to bed tonight and i know its going to be unlocked again, WHY THE HELL IS IT DOING THIS ?????

HELP ?????? cheers

Is it the complete tail gate, or just the top hatch?
If you thought it may be the third button I'm guessing it's the hatch. If so what does the switch feel like when you squeeze it? Does it feel like the trigger inside is moving and springing back freely? If not I'm guessing it heavily corrededvand possibly even damaged how mine was.

hi,

right, depending on how you program the logo button, so with it programmed to the top hatch it does whats described in my post, but also does it when the main tailgate is programmed for the third button, it does it either way.

its really concerning me, just been outside and yet again the tailgate is unlocked and just popped up. not enough to make the interior lights come un but unlocked all the same, you just only need lift it 2007 RRS HSE

So disregarding the key, is it the top hatch or complete tail gate that's opening? (I was just using the key as an example in assuming it was the top part)

Well, that's my theory of tailgate switch malfunction.

As a temp measure can't you shut the tailgate and then pull the central locking fuse out then manually lock the doors.

This may help

The switch from the upper tailgate is 5 minutes to get out, but you need the top hatch open. 2 ways, 1 you can either use a flat blade small screw driver and push it in and prise it out(there is spring tabs either side) but these can break. Or look underneath on the inside there's 8 t20 screws that you remove then the trim on the outside can be slid up and off, exposing the rear window beam and switch, from there it's a simple push out.

Was open. / popped , just lift and it opens followed then by the alarm!!!!
The wife is getting increasingly annoyed as it seems to be one thing after another!!
Just need to get this sorted asap. Cheers 2007 RRS HSE

Try doing a soft reset of the car (disconnect the battery leads and then touch them together, this purges all residual power in all the systems).

If it's still not right after that it might be the ecu for the central locking or a short.
