Mine phone connects OK wirelessly (not sure whether it's using Bluetooth - I should try with it off to see) and I get all the functions I was expecting. |

My understanding was, you need to connect with the USB to enable InControl Apps. Bluetooth alone will still get your standard features such as phone and music streaming.

Exactly the same, a right Royal pain in the arse! Why on earth incontrol apps doesn't connect via bluetooth is beyond me, plus you'd think wired would be more reliable! I'm Iphone 7 btw but assume that doesn't matter. I asked dealer last week if there was a software update, no. So for me, It has only once connected first time, often it will the second after the 'try again'. Phone screen has to generally be unlocked. I do the same things as you in unplugging/plugging in the usb when in repeatedly fails. Spotify sometimes 'plays' but there is no audio and nothing shows in the speedo screen except 0/1! You can't view playlist tracks on spotify, unless you play each one, one after the other or shuffle! The apps are s**t bar spotify. Separately there is supposed to be an 'approach mode' on the nav showing google street view when you are approximately 200 yards from destination. I though it would do it automatically if Nav was on satellite view but alas no?! |

No, I get InControl Apps. without any wired connection, nor did I need a wired connection to set it up. |

I assume you're not Apple but Android? Sure I read somewhere that they connect differently.

Yes, Android. Maybe that's the difference, then. Sorry if I misled anyone, but I thought a phone was a phone. |

I didn't realise Android was different either. My iPhone connects as a 'phone' via Bluetooth and everything works as it should. However if I touch the InControl Apps button on the screen a message comes up telling me to plug the phone in via USB to access apps. I think the manual describes this too.

Satellite view is on all the time on my sat. nav. - I struggle to get rid of it even when I don't want to see it! It seems to be the default setting, and certainly works without a SIM card so I'm assuming it's in the memory, which, at 18 GB of data, it probably should be! |

As definite proof that ranting on an Internet forum does deliver positive results, I plugged in the phone tonight and I was shocked to find Spotify playing before I even pulled away from the car park! I must go out and try that gesture tailgate......

It's an ecu implanted software patch to lull you in to a false sense of confidence, only to bite you in the ass tomorrow morning just as you think it's cured. For good measure the gesture tailgate will proceed to smack your forehead as you are polishing the exhaust tips!! |
