Should 4x4 info screen show gear/drive selection?

On my 08 tdv8 sport, the 4x4 info screen shows a box over the transmission with Hi/Lo and when in reverse or neutral, shows R or N. However it also shows N in drive and in command shift. Is this normal?

This picture is in low drive:

Semi-related, is the center diff meant to lock in sand mode, or does it do that when it detects slip? Does the padlock over the rear diff mean that it has a locking rear diff too?

It should show drive yes not N.
Wheels also move with steering.

The Center lock does come on and off as you move the knob.

Maybe u do have a rear locking diff

Any ideas what causes this and if it's something to worry about? I've looked at the transmission live data and it shows the correct information (presumably it wouldn't shift if it didn't!)

The steering wheels move on the screen, low hi shows as it should and the center diff lights up orange when I select rock crawl. According to car config I don't have a rear locker fitted, I'll get under it and take a look sometime.

The rear diff shows the unlocked padlock irrespective of the type of diff fitted. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

No idea.

I assume the tiny display under the speedo which shows PRND is showing D ?
