Split in power steering return hose

My TDV8 has sprung a leak and i'm curious if anyone else has suffered the same
Just below (about 3 inches) the PAS reservoir, fitted on the return hose is a crimp which is squashed. Apparently this is a designed in feature, presumably to form a restriction in the line before return fluid enters the reservoir.
Unfortunately the rubber has split where this crimp is fitted.

My car is booked in to my preferred Indy to have the complete return hose replaced on Wednesday next week so I can't really use the car in the meantime as the split may get bigger and lead to the power steering losing all of its fluid whilst driving and wrecking the pump in the process.

Has anyone else had this issue?
