L494 blind spot indicators?

I know this can be turned off every time you get into the car, but it resets to default on every time you stop start.

Is it possible to plug something into the obd port and turn it off permanently?

I thought when you enable/disable it in the "Driving Features" menu it remembers that. I believe IIDTool can make it unavailable permanently as if not installed.

It is such a useful safety feature. Unless it isn't working and you want to disable it until you can get it fixed and don't want to see the warning, my question is why would you want to turn it off? Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Because it's stuck on, due to wrapping on the bumper and at night it's driving my mum nuts.

Well Land Rover dealer say it's on because of the wrapping, yet the guy who wrapped it, removed all the wrap from the bumper and the warnings were still lit up, so re applied the wrapping (at a cost to my mum) which she didn't mind paying but now it's been into dealership today and they are saying that because of the wrap, the fault was not covered under warranty!

And they Were NOT prepared to remove the bumper to inspect further as THEY COULD NOT garantee the damage would not be done to the wrapping in the process!

To me it sounds like they are using it as an excuse not to investigate, as it's no different to removing an ordinary painted rear bumper! If they damaged that then you would expect them to repair it.

Do you know if was working before wrapping the car? Any chance the radar/sensor got damaged during the wrapping process?

Once I saw a warning (in the middle of a journey) that suggested the sensor was blocked (which it wasn't). Even then it went unavailable rather than being permanently on. It cleared the next time I started the car and never happened again - was a one off. What it did do was automatically disable it and I had to go in the menu to re-enable it for my return journey. Hence my understanding it remembers the setting.

I have no experience of wrapping but would be surprised if a thin layer just on the exterior of the bumper would confuse the system. Mine has been covered in dirt and mud and blind spot monitoring, closing vehicle sensing, reverse traffic detection and adaptive cruise all continued to work. Now if they had to reach deep on the insides of the bumper while wrapping and covered/damaged the sensor, that may be a different story.

Too late now but it would have been best to take it to the dealer with the wrap removed and monitor still not behaving, rather than having it re-wrapped straightaway.

Again, an IIDTool (single car unit registered to that car's VIN or the pro multi-car version) should be able to disable it permanently or at the very least tell you the fault.

EDIT: Just out of interest, is the light in the mirror indicating a car in the blind spot illuminated on just one side or both? Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

The guy who wrapped it has said if anything was damaged to the wrappingbtgen he will more than happily pay to rectify, but as he said nothing electrical was moved or touched so he's 100% sure it wasn't damaged. And during the removal of the film they removed the bumper and everything still looks as new.

The wrapping is purely on the external plastic of the bumper not even on the rear defuser part.
I did say they should have gone to the dealership at the time of removing the wrap but it was late in the day and the dealership would of been closed and meaning another 60 miles tripnthe following day. It's the drivers side (as far as I know wing mirror and it's permanently lit up. The fault was reset but reappeared almost straight after leaving the garage.

I think it's more the point that they won't investigate it because the won't be held responsible for any damage that may occur to the wrap which has annoyed her most. Specially as this is the 4/5th time it's been booked in and actually made it in to the shop. 1st time she got to the entrance then they phoned to cancel her appointment, 2nd they done a health check and "forgot" to inspect! 3rd and 4th time were cancelled due to having no access to land rovercomputer systems "was told the whole dealership network was down"

She's been monitoring the car on her phone all day, and they didn't so much as open the drivers door until 15.05hrs and it's been there since 8.30am! Which has made her even more frustrated with them.

I think in all fairness she's had nothing but trouble with this dealership from day one. They were all sweet to her while selling the car, then it's right go **** yourself for aftercare.!

Sadly her terrible experience with the dealership is a common occurrence Sad Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
