Scotland 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Park Assist 2016MY

Hi, picked up our 7 month old RRSDynamic last week. It has park assists but only gives us parallel park but no other options.

I thought they all had parallel, perpendicular and park exit at that model year. The topix build sheet just says Park Assist.

When you press the button once you get parallel park then press again it goes off. So no exit either.

Does this sound normal?

Cheers

They did but as a 2nd option pack after parallel park. It requires additional sensors for the "reverse traffic detection" (which actually I found more useful than the auto park function.....) You got the exit function because of the additional sensors as well. It's like now there are three packs of parking aids, perpendicular, parallel and the Bird's Eye view surround function. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ok, to make things more complicated we have the reverse traffic detection and (what used to be known as) blind spot monitoring.....lane mitigation or something.

It seems we have all the sensors required but not the pack. Odd.

You may find that using an IID tool you can enable the software, the Blind Spot monitoring uses sensors in the wing mirrors, lane mitigation is the vibrating steering wheel and it uses a cam in front of the rear view mirror that is also used for road sign recognition (that also uses a data case in the HDD of the satnav............ another thing I liked that was on my last car as the speed limit for the road was retained in the info screen between the speedo and the rev counter until you passed yet he next speed limit sign). It is very clever because when the cam picked up that the village I live in had had a new 40 limit stretching 300m out from the 30mph sign the new sign was displayed on the dash even though it wasn't in the database. Also in the Clyde tunnel it showed a bank of all four signs that area on one post, max speed, minimum speed, no overtaking and another that i cannot remember what it was now! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, are you saying that the GAP IID tool can turn on / off software features? 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

Not Tim, but with the mentioned GAP IID BT tool does indeed switch on/off certain functions/features, also allows alteration of Suspension height, and a host of other things. It's not anything like a code reader, but a full diagnostic tool for our cars, which can pay for itself very quickly. Thumbs Up John

Thanks John, I was wondering how detailed the software is.

I have only recently found out the GAP IID tool is not compatible with the MY17 models, which is very unfortunate for me. They are not looking at sorting this out until the end of the year too... Big Cry 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

This I'm very interested in as my car has all the cameras but only perpendicular and not the other park functions!

So if I buy this tool then what is being said is that I can go ahead and switch on a bunch of items that otherwise are currently switched off (provided I have the relevant cameras)

I have a local Land rover specialist nearby that looks after our company vehicles, I'm assuming they would have this tool and should I ask nicely since we put a lot of work their way, that they might plug me in and enable such goodies!

That's sounds reasonable to me, tell me has anyone here actually switched on features via this tool? MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

From my experience of this with JLR cars (Jaguar to be fair), I would not expect to be able to "switch on" features that need the SDD system config file changing.

Perfectly happy to find out that RRs are different though. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Wilf does that mean the Gap tool won't do what's been suggested then? MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

I couldn't say, not ever having tried one, but I do know of many "modders" in the Jaguar world, and they have never mentioned it. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

The tool will do what has been suggested, as I and several others have done the mentioned things.
Always back up the CCF files etc before altering anything. Wink

Thanks johnski that's very helpful and the faq page likewise so thank you.

I went to my local Landy specialist today and he confirmed they use the gap tool and would be happy to hook me up to see what improvement's can be made, of course the parking features would be great to have in all their entirety.

They quoted 70 for this service which in my mind is a no brainer.

Just wonder what other things are disabled that I could have upgraded by the tool, hmmmmmmm!! MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver
